Our Fraternity and Sorority Community

The fraternity and sorority community at Oklahoma State University is composed of almost 50 fraternity and sorority chapters and four governing councils; the Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and Panhellenic Council. Fraternity and sorority membership offers students a unique opportunity to have a balanced college life with a focus on academic excellence, brotherhood/sisterhood, leadership development, community service and responsible social interaction. Greek affiliation also allows students to make lasting friendships with individuals with similar ideals and common purposes.
Our Pillars
- Many chapters have an academic development program which promotes scholarship that includes maintaining a respectable grade point average to participate in chapter activities.
- Further, each fraternity and sorority has its own scholarship program that will help
your student succeed academically as well as learn to effectively manage their time
away from classes.
- Scholarship programs can include study hours, mentors, support technology and/or study files. In addition, many of the chapter houses include quiet places to study as well as resource rooms or libraries complete with computers, including online connections as well as copy/fax machines.
- Fraternity/sorority student semester GPA, as well as four and six-year graduation
rates, are consistently higher than non-affiliated students.

- At Oklahoma State University, fraternities and sororities enable students to establish strong friendships that last far beyond their college years. Affiliation provides members with an opportunity to interact with other students of all ages, backgrounds and interests.
- Members meet a diverse group of people within the fraternity/sorority community and other student organizations. Membership offers a network of support while students are making the transition to college life.
- The fraternity/sorority community is strongly united and growing in numbers. On campus, fraternity/sorority members have proven themselves as empowered, strong campus leaders. For example, fraternity and sorority members are typically involved in various campus leadership positions such as Student Government Association Executive Board, Camp Cowboy Directors, Cowboython, and many others.
- Because fraternity and sorority chapters are self-governing bodies in which the members take on the responsibilities of running the organization, fraternity and sorority life is a special living and learning environment. The hands-on experience of holding an office in the chapter helps members develop leadership, organization and communication skills. Chapters and members interact and make connections with other student organizations and departments on campus as a result.
- Fraternity and sorority members learn the importance of dedication, working with others, responsibility and self-reliance. In addition, there are many leadership opportunities within the fraternity and sorority community apart from those within each chapter. Whether your student is a natural leader, wants to cultivate their skills or just want to be involved, fraternity/sorority membership will help your student develop their unique, individual potential.
- One of the most gratifying aspects of fraternity/sorority membership is the sense of satisfaction and pride that comes with involvement in philanthropy and community service. Fraternity and sorority students and alumni throughout North America recognize local and national organizations in need of aid by donating their time, talent and funds through their special philanthropy and community service projects. OSU fraternity and sorority students raise tens of thousands of dollars and devote thousands of hours in hands-on service each year to a variety of projects that benefit people on a local and national level. Last year, students raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars and gave over 70,000 hours of their time. In addition to the individual chapter projects, the community comes together several times per year to perform joint projects for both the campus and the community, for example: Freshman Follies. Whether raising money or donating time, service is an essential part of the fraternal experience.
