The first African American Greek Letter sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 15th, 1908 on the Campus of Howard University, in Washington D.C. The women strive to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind. This Illustrious sorority would not be where it is today had it not been for our beloved 20 pearls. The women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated not only strive to better themselves, but to better the community as well. We are constantly investing in the new generation, because we know they are the future of tomorrow.
The Tantalizing Theta Beta Chapter was chartered at Oklahoma State University on October 28th, 1973.
